PRESS: Russia to invest heavily in technological independence

MOSCOW, Jun 28 (PRIME) -- Russia will spend much money on its technological sovereignty, the Security Council’s Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview to daily Argumenty I Fakty published on Tuesday.

“Provision of technological sovereignty cannot be delayed. A lot of budget money will be invested in a whole package of quick measures. A range of programs was prepared to support national production, research and development projects, training of staff for the key industries,” Medvedev said.

He sees a dozen of directions that need actions not to stop manufacturing or ensure technological independence. “For example, substitution of imported equipment and programs in the sphere of critically important information infrastructure is vital,” Medvedev said.

Russia should train specialists whose qualification will be no worse than that of the departed employees of the Western companies.

Medvedev also said that Russia’s opponents who slapped the sanctions on the country are waiting for its economy to collapse, but it will not happen.

The country’s response to the ban of transit of goods to its Western exclave, the Kaliningrad Region, will be very harsh. Most of the opportunities are economic and “can pull the plug on our Baltic neighbors who have committed hostilities.”
